THE POOJA CHRONICLES Part 1. Yoga, MLM Strategy, and Anna Delvey if she were a business coach.
Welcome the Part 1 my favorite new series The Pooja Chronicles.
This series is going to be longer-form chats with the stellar, smart, and funny Pooja Virani as she and I chat about all of the industry challenges we have been dying to chat about.
Pooja and I met at a yoga conference in March of this year and found out that we both have lots of love and criticism of how the yoga industry is currently working in the West. We both feel like there is a lot that we should be working to change, and also we feel like we love the tradition of Yoga and how it has been a benefit in both of our lives.
This episode is the second that we recorded, but we both loved it so much that it is getting published first. We are talking MLMs (multi-level marketing) and how the yoga industry has been awash with this business model for ages—and it isn’t working for us.
We cover con artists like Anna Delvey, why we were both sort of obsessed with the con artist shows that were all over Netflix and Hulu in March and April, and how everyone is a damn business coach nowadays.
This one goes deep, friends. We cover a lot of ground as we move into conversations on capitalism, yoga celebrities, and how if we are honest the overwhelming majority of yoga professionals are poverty-wage workers.
