The Business Workshop You Actually Want.

Taught by someone who actually has your job. Not by someone who used to have your job 15 years ago and then decided it was easier to sell you stuff than do that job.

Or someone who got another yoga-related job first, and then trained in yoga so they could sell us stuff and work from a place of shallow-pool understanding.

Remember the days when we felt comfortable, confident, and supported as yoga professionals?

For me, those days feel like a myth, but perhaps for you, they feel like 2019.

For years our industry has been built on the unsteady ground of zero-sum thinking, with no real model for professional development, support, and mentorship.

But it is 2025. We’ve lasted through COVID. We’ve built businesses that exist in ways and spaces that we never imagined in 2019. And we are still here to share the full scope of what yoga has to offer with our students.

We are sharing our stories, working to develop our skills, wrestle with big topics like consent, accessibility, and cultural appropriation, figuring out our money and spotlight attitudes, and creating and sharing content in interesting and inclusive new ways.

We are the next generation of yoga professionals.

And this a challenge is designed for us to move along the path—together. As a team, a unit, and an industry of professionals.

It’s a journey, friends.

My favorite thing about our industry is that all roads can lead to rome. (or so goes the saying)

There isn’t any one “right” way for you to be a yoga professional.

For years many of us have been using what are called portfolio careers to offer a whole variety of different things in yoga space. We are yoga therapists (or just see clients privately for therapeutic outcomes and call ourselves whatever), we lead group classes, we teach workshops and short-form courses, we agonize over training new teachers, and we think constantly about how we are showing up for our clients, students, and fellow yoga teachers.

And the people in leadership roles in our industry have very often actually done none of that.

So let’s do some good, old-fashioned professional development, together.

Over 4 days and 8 hours we are going to talk about four main topics:

  • leveling up your skillset

  • building specialized content that lights you up, gets you excited, and serves a need in your community

  • talking about money, how to ask for money, what to charge, and why

  • and how to let people know you are out there (that’s marketing, babes)

We will have one bonus topic that is near and dear to my heart, self-care as a yoga professional. (This topic is sooooo fraught, friends. Let’s support each other here)

Here are all the details.

We will meet every day from Monday July 17-July 21st, 2023 at 11 am, CST (10 am ET, 9 am PT, 4 pm GMT). Expect each session to be 90-120 minutes.

Each day we will cover a specific professional development topic, offer options for enhancement of that topic, and have question & answer time.

Cost: $97

Our topics:

Monday, January 27: Up Level Your Skill Set. Getting yourself where you want to go professionally.

Tuesday, January 28: Creating The Content You Want To Share.

Wednesday, January 29: Your Money Matters, For All Of Us.

Thursday, January 30: You Are Not A Best-Kept Secret. How To Stand In The Spotlight and Not Feel Gross.

Friday, January 31 (bonus day): What Self-Care Actually Means When You Already Are A Yoga Professional.

This challenge is priced for yoga professionals…so we can actually afford it. You don’t need another $2000 business course when you don’t even know where you should go next in your career.

I am also a believer in consent in every aspect of my business—so I am telling you the marketing secret before you sign up. I get your email and a small fee, we get to connect online, and you get to spend a week with friends working on figuring out how to build your career.

Did We Mention…there is a place to chat online that is off of social media???

We will open our Working In Yoga Professional Development Community online during the week of the challenge, and we will have homework and check-ins that we can post during the week. We will get connected in a positive virtual community far away from prying eyes and someone trying to sell you their next business course/training/online magic beans. In order to develop ourselves, we need space. This challenge’s virtual community is designed to do just that.

Who is teaching?

Podcast Host, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Yoga Studio & Apothecary Owner and all-around deconstructionist—Meet Rebecca Sebastian (that’s me).

I have been actively engaged in the conversations around change within the yoga profession for years now, and I have a passion and dedication to making our industry better for all of us.

Here is what you really want to know tho: I have spent 20+ years making a living in yoga. I have landed corporate contracts, done research studies, worked for higher ed. institutions, taught yoga in livestock barns, and at one time averaged 18 classes a week, and my income from yoga therapy clients saved my studio during COVID. Oh right, and I do travel to teach and speak with my content on self-care for wellness business owners.

I have done this job. I’ve got receipts. Wanna know how?

You Might Have Some Questions.

How do I access the challenge?

When you register, you will be automatically signed in to our email list. Each day of the challenge you will get a reminder email an hour before we start with a button to join. Click that button and you are in.

Are there replays?

Yep, you will have replays for one week after the challenge is done.

I am a brand-new yoga teacher, is this for me?

The point of this challenge is for you to create intention around the direction of your career. You can do that at any stage of your yoga professional journey. Sometimes the answer to the question of “how do I get where I want to go” is hard, sometimes it is easy. We will dig in together and find the best possible next steps for you.

Same question as above, but I am an experienced yoga professional (ie. yoga therapist, yoga studio owner, etc)

The answer here is almost the same as above. If you are further along in your career trajectory, sometimes the answer is to invest in programs or offerings that other people are teaching to up-level your capacity to grow. But there are 1,000,000 business coaches out there—how do you choose? Where do you go from here? We will talk about it.

I might have questions, can I get 1:1 time?

During this challenge each day there will be time for Q&As, and there is the opportunity to ask questions in our virtual community. But part of the intention of this challenge is to not sell you one more thing, but to offer the ability to find your own path by listening to your own voice. We will be opening more robust professional development later this year, but right now as we meet in the deep of summertime, we will pause and ask ourselves for the next right step.

Being a Yoga Professional is pretty rad, right? I mean, our job is cool and I love it.

It is, and me too.

See you in the challenge.
