Light Up Your Teaching is for you.

Gone are the days of heading into your YTT weekend feeling lost, unmoored, and generally apprehensive about what you were going to learn and why. A hybrid training lets us have the best of all worlds. Learning ahead of time from home at your own pace and in-person connections. It is taking our best from 2020 and marrying it with the best of right now to create the yoga teacher training model of the future.

This is the future of yoga teacher training. Your time is yours. Most weekends a month with no commitments! More time with your sacred people, for traveling, or even resting. Watch the content videos, reading, and practicing yoga whenever your schedule allows. Integrating the content in real-time…as you are teaching and studying.

No rush to get it done in 8 weeks. No need to quit your regular life to learn more about your career calling, field, and business. No commitment to every other weekend of Zoom content or in-person training.

We take the best of online and the best of in-person and put them together. For you.

What

Light Up Your Teaching is a one-year-long 500- hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training course.

There are some unique elements to this training that you won’t find anywhere else in the Midwest. This course is set up to be a fully integrated hybrid experience. What does that mean? It means that some of the learning will happen online through cohort calls, pre-recorded videos, quizzes, and uploaded assignments that all take place in our virtual studio. But also we will meet in-person monthly, for those deep inquiry conversations that don’t happen anywhere else but in-between people sharing the same space.

Each month will have a curated list of online content for you to absorb so that when we come together we can be in-person for the two best parts of a yoga teacher training: connection with your teacher and fellow students and unfiltered discussion about the topics we are learning.

When

We meet the 1st weekend of every month in-person at Sunlight Yoga + Apothecary in Davenport, Iowa.

Saturdays from 10 am-5 pm and Sundays 8 am-1 pm. The exceptions are March, we meet the 2nd weekend, and Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022. We do not meet that day.

Weekeds start January 8th & 9th, 2022 and end December 3rd & 4th, 2022.

Let us tell you about our guest teachers…

We are big believers that the best yoga businesses create not only one-sided business exchanges, but true collaborations to bring the best of the best together to share their knowledge and wisdom with the next generation of yoga teachers.

This year we will have true experts in the fields of

  • Ayurveda,

  • kids yoga,

  • meditation,

  • self-care,

  • pain care,

  • trauma-informed yoga teaching,

  • retreat facilitation,

  • and more

who will come and host entire sections of content for us.

Some will be in person. Some will be online. All of them are the best in the business in their particular subject.

Meet Rebecca

Rebecca Sebastian (C-IAYT) is a 20-year yoga teacher, 10-year yoga therapist, and she is currently speaking about yoga and the business of yoga all over the country. Rebecca has designed a program for yoga teachers just like you. Teachers who want to learn how to integrate the deep philosophical teachings into their lives and run businesses that nourish and nurture themselves.

A big fan of collaboration, Rebecca has created a truly hybrid program with partnerships with yoga teachers all over the US who are passionate about sharing their expertise and making the yoga industry a healthier and more enlightened place to work.

Host of the podcast Working In Yoga, Rebecca has a rebellious spirit and a passion for lifting and lighting up other yoga teachers in their quest to share yoga with the world.

“I left my 2-year-old son to train for two weeks at a time.” -Rebecca

It is often a burden of time, money, and connection to train to be a yoga professional in the ways we have always done. But COVID has allowed us the opportunity to do better. At the time I did my 500-hour YTT in 2010/2011, I didn’t have much choice. Those first 300 hours of my yoga therapy training were held in person for large chunks of training time. Some aspects I loved, like getting to deeply connect with other people who were just as passionate about yoga as I was, but the burden of leaving my family was difficult. I had a vision of a life and career that I longed for so I chose to go forward and get training, but plenty of folks can’t make those choices.

Now I get to offer Light Up Your Teaching in a way that means nobody ever has to make the choices I did.

This training fits into your life.

Into your family & relationship life.

Into your day job schedule.

And you to still connect in-person with people who will become your long-time friends and colleagues.

The people who will become cheerleaders in the yoga career you’ve been dreaming of creating.

Is this course for you?

If you are less interested in the fitness and fancy asana side of yoga, this course is for you.

If you are interested in making yoga teaching your profession, this course is for you.

If you enjoy deep philosophy conversations this course is for you.

If conversations about social justice, race, religion, and cultural appropriation don’t intimidate you but excite you to unpack, this course is for you.

If looking at the science behind why yoga is effective is something you enjoy, this course is for you.

If you seek to hold one foot in yogic tradition and one foot in the modern world, this course is for you.

If you want to learn how to do a handstand or put your foot behind your head, this course is not for you.

What kind of content will we be learning about?

Each month we will have videos in our online studio that relate to one of our eleven core content subjects. These sections include typical topics like physical asana and anatomy, subtle anatomy, & philosophy (a favorite subject of Rebecca’s to teach). But also expect entire sections on science, Sanskrit, chanting, a large section on business, and a complete section on yoga teacher self-care. Rebecca is committed to reducing the burnout that is so common in our industry, so we will unpack and really take time to talk about how we can care for ourselves as we care for and share yoga with others.
